Club Valedictory:
The
Department of Home Science celebrated the Valedictory of “Akarsh Club” on 22nd
February, 2020. The Chief Guest of the program was Dr.Sr.Marietta D’Mello. The
student representatives of club groups laid down their office. The colorful day
was made memorable with cultural programs performed by the students.
Pongal was
celebrated on 3rd and 4th January, 2020 in Akarsh Club
(Department of Home Science). I B. Sc Home Science Students celebrated by
putting beautiful Rangoli Designs and III B. Sc Home Science Students has done
Pongal Decoration.
Semi-Christmas
was celebrated on 21st December, 2019 in Akarsh Club (Department of
Home Science). The colorful day was made memorable with cultural programmes
like skit on “Birth of Jesus”, dances and Carols.
The
Department of Home Science celebrated the Inaugural of “Akarsh Club” on 1st
August, 2019. The Chief Guest of the program was Dr. N. Nagavardhanam, Former
HOD, Department of Botany, Ch. S. D. St. Theresa’s College for Women (A), Eluru.
The Chief Guest presented badges to the representatives of club groups. Dr. Sr.
Marietta D’ Mello, Principal graced the occasion. Miss Home Science contest was
conducted for the students and prizes were given to the winners of Miss Home
Science, Miss Princess and Miss Sweety contest. The colorful day was made
memorable with cultural programmes performed by Home Science students.
CLUB INAUGURATION
The
Department of Home Science celebrated the Inaugural of “Akarsh Club” on 21st
July, 2018. The Chief Guest of the programme was Mrs. N. Jaya Lakshmi, CDPO, Department
of Child Welfare, Eluru (U). The Chief Guest presented badges to the
representatives of club groups. Miss Home Science contest was conducted for the
students and prizes were given to the winners of Miss Home Science contest. The
colourful day was made memorable with cultural programmes.

Pongal
was celebrated on 11th January, 2019 in Akarsh Club (Department of
Home Science). I B. Sc Home Science Students celebrated by putting beautiful
Rangoli Designs and III B. Sc Home Science Students has done Pongal Decoration.
On
15th February, 2019 “Jewellery Making” Competition was conducted in
Akarsh Club (Department of Home Science). The students actively participated in
the jewellery making competition. On 18th February, 2019 “Pass the
Ball” game was conducted and the students enjoyed the game. Prize distribution
for the winner’s of the competition and game will be held in Akarsh club
valedictory function.

Dietician, District Government General Hospital, Eluru (U). The student
representatives of club groups laid down their office. Prizes were given to the
winners of “Jewellary Making” and “Pass the ball” Competitions. The colorful
day was made memorable with cultural programs performed by the students.
AKARSH CLUB OF
HOME SCIENCE
Home Science club resumed
its activities on 8th July, 2016. Club elections were conducted to
elect the leaders for the portfolios of Vice President, Secretary and Joint
Secretary. Mrs. P.S.Bhanu Prasanna was given charge as President of Akarsh club
for this year. Elected members were V.Kavya Sai of III B.Sc.H.Sc as Vice
President, Ch.Bindu Madhavi of II B.Sc H.Sc as Secretary, P.Sai Anjali of I
B.Sc H.Sc as Joint Secretary. Wall
magazines were prepared by the groups.
CLUB INAUGURATION
The Akarsh club inaugural was held on July 22nd, 2016.
Elected leaders were inducted on the
inaugural day. All the members of Home Science Club were divided into 7 batches
and were named with inspirational women authors. The Chief Guest of the
programme is Dr.Debora, KVK Co-ordinator, Undi. Dr.Sr.Mercy.P, the Principal of
the college and Dr. Sr. Marietta D’Mello, PG Director graced the occasion with
their presence. In that event, Miss Home Science Contest was also conducted,
which was the most interesting part of the Home Science Club. Dr. Sr. Marietta
D’ Mello was felicitated as she is appointed as PG director.
Interaction with Alumnae:
Ø On 28th
June 2016, Ms.R.S.Shravanthi, 2011-14 batch Union President and alumnae of Home
Science department, shared her experiences of the diploma course on Interior
Designing and Resource Management which perused at Ooty.
Ø On 4th July, 2016 Home Science students
got an opportunity of meeting Ms.Y.Hemalatha, Textile Trainer, Association of
Ladies Entrepreneur of Andhra Pradesh {ALEAP}, who created awareness about jute
bag making and showed some samples.
Earn while you learn:
Ø On 28th, 29th and 30th July, Our III B.Sc
H.Sc students had beautifully prepared friendship bands and conducted
Friendship band exhibition cum sale as a part of earn while you learn
program. On these days they have also
utilized the skill of mehendi keeping to generate money.
Guest
lectures and Demonstrations :
Ø Guest Lecture on “Role of
Dietitian In Hospitals”: Akarsh
club members got an opportunity to meet Mrs.
P. Sowjanya, Dietitian, District General Hospital, Eluru on 2nd
November, 2016. She has enlightened the students about the job opportunities
that are present in the hospitals and ways to apply for those vacancies.

Guest Lecture and demonstration on “Preparation of Teaching
Aids”: Home
science department had organized a guest
lecture on Preparation of Teaching Aids
by Mrs. R.Swarupa Rani, ICDS- Anganwadi
Training Centre, on 17th November,2016. She has showed many teaching
aids and demonstrated preparation of some teaching aids.

Guest Lecture on “Plant
Products and Home Remedies”: As a part of Home Sceince club activity, Dr.N. Nagavardhanam, HOD, Dept. of Botany
was invited to deliver the guest lecture on the topic ‘Plant products and Home
remedies’ on 26th November, 2016. All the three years students had
benefitted by knowing different uses of ayurvedic plant products to safe guard
health.
Ø Guest Lecture on “Various
Aspects of Reproduction”: A
guest lecture was held on 17th December, 2016 by Dr. K.V.S.K.S. Madhavi Rani, Senoir
Faculty, Dept. Of Zoology. She has given best examples about family life and
various aspects about reproduction.
Competitions:
Ø Different club competitions were conducted in Akarsh Home Science
club to promote substantial
experience, showcase skills, analyze and evaluate outcomes and uncover personal
aptitude. The various competitions like Dhal Separation, Just a Minute in
Telugu, Dumb sharads were conducted and the winners were given prizes during
Club Valedictory.
Ø On 17th Dec, 2016 Home Science students participated in
Crib competition in the college level.

Celebrations & Club Valedictory:
Semi Christmas celebrations along with Silver Jubilee
felicitation of Dr.Sr.Mercy.P, Principal, followed by Akarsh club valedictory
was conducted on 21st December, 2016. The members of the Akarsh Club
took part in different cultural activities like group dance and skit.
Dr.Sr.Mercy. P, Principal was the Chief Guest and Dr.G.Nalini Kumari, former
lecturer in Home Science was the special invitee. Staff and students of Home
Science department felicitated Sister Principal in a traditional manner.
