1. Staff
and students of Department of Home Science participated in various programmes
organised as a part of World Breast Feeding Week from 1-8-2020 to 7-8-2020. A
series of webinars were attended on 2nd,
4th,5th and 6th August,2020 organised by Indian Dietetic
Association, Mumbai Chapter.
2. Quiz Competition on Breast Feeding on 3rd
August, 2020 was organised by Department
of Home Science , UG & PG Nutrition.

Padmaja participated in Launch of Stanpan Suraksha Mobile App by BPNI- Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India

Nutrition Week was celebrated from 1st -7th
September,2020.

September students participated in One minute video recording competition.

On 2nd September
Novel recipe contest was organised.

On 3rd
September students were given a task of planting one sapling of any vegetable
or fruit.

On 4th September students
participated in Article writing competition organised by Department of Home
Science, Government Degree College, Guntur and E. Doshma of II B. Sc H. Sc won
II prize.

September Dr.M.Padmaja and students participated in Valedictory function of
Natinal Nutrition Week organised by Department of Home Science, Government
Degree College, Guntur

B.Sc., Home Science students presented a programme on 1st, August,
2019 on the topic “LIQUID GOLD”.
Students explained about the importance of Breast Feeding, Advantages of Breast Feeding to mother and Infant,
Immunological, psychological and Physiological factors, Disadvantages of
Prelacteal foods and bottle feeding etc,. Students used various methods like
Skit, Videos and Power-point Presentation to express the importance of the Breast
Feeding.

B.Sc. H.Sc students were given an experience of organizing ‘Nutri-Eatery’ low cost and nutritious
recipe preparation on 3rd August, 2019. The students were encouraged
to prepare 10 different items and were able to
gain marketing skills and quantity cooking. The experience makes them to learn
techniques of doing business to empower themselves. And it is also an activity
undertaken as part of Breast Feeding Week celebrations.
COMMUNITY ORIENTED VISIT

B.Sc H.Sc students visited Anganwadi centre, located at SriRam Nagar Road,
Eluru on 7th August, 2019. Students came to know about the ongoing
programmes of women and child welfare department from the Anganwadi Instructor.
They even came to know about the immunization schedule which is being practiced
in the recent years for infants.
Cultural Exchange Program
M. Nirmala
Jyothi of III B. Sc Home science attended “Cultural Exchange Program”, to
Kerela with the help of National wide Jesus Youth Movement. The duration of the
program was from 14th December, 2018 to 1st January,
2019.
v BREAST FEEDING WEEK-Awareness
camp on the IMPORTANCE OF BREAST FEEDING
in Government hospital maternity ward. Students enacted a role play on
importance of breast feeding in the maternity ward and distributed breads and
clothes to the lactating women.
v INTER CAMPUS-ORIENTATION PROGRAMME
was conducted by the III
B. Sc Home science students to orient
Senior Intermediate students. Students were oriented about the Home science
course pattern, co-curricular and extracurricular activities of the department.
Students were also enlightened about the Job avenues of the Home science course.
Creative crafts prepared by the students were displayed to arouse interest
towards the course.
v DEMONSTRATIONS IN GOVT. PRIMARY
SCHOOL: III
B.Sc H.Sc students gave demonstrations to students of Govt. Primary School on
Artificial flower making, butterfly making, finger printing, vegetable
printing, finger puppet and preparation of play equipment. Department is in
regular contact and is getting services from the following organizations while
undertaking various activities.
v NUTRITION WEEK CELEBRATIONS: Nutrition
Week Celebrations was conducted by Home Science and Applied Science departments
from 1st to 7th September 2015.Department of Home Science
supplies sprouts for the faculty in the campus for 10 days. Awareness
programmes are organized in local hospitals, schools and local community.
v ICDS-DEPT.OF WOMEN AND CHILD
WELFARE: Students
are given an exposure to the talks organized with the officials of the
department on certain important celebrations of the year like nutrition week,
breast feeding week and club celebrations. Dr.M.Padmaja
and Mrs.P.S.Bhanu Prasanna extended guest lectures to the Anganwadi
trainees on nutritional needs of
pregnant and lactating women & Post natal adjustments of infants,
Physiological functions of infants and physical development of babyhood
respectively.
v CARE INDIA: Dr.M.Padmaja,
the permanent district resource group member is offering her valuable services
as and when the need arises.
v WORLD VISION-SANTHI DATA ADP: Dr.M.Padmaja,
Created awareness about importance of nutrition for high school children of
Madepalli.
